這首歌在1992年首映的德國電影走出寂靜(Beyond Silence) 、1992年的 神鬼戰士(Gladiator) 、1994年的 你是我今生的新娘(Four Weddings & A Funeral )、1999年女狼俱樂部(Coyote Ugly)、1999年月亮上的男人(Man On The Moon /R.E.M.)、2000 的十全大補男(The Replacements) 都曾經使用過這首歌曲來當作襯樂。
而演唱過這首歌曲的歌手更是不計其數。
原主唱者Gloria Gaynor 生於紐澤西州的一個小鎮，1974年以一首Never Can Say Goodbye開始她的歌唱生涯；1975年展露頭角，迷人的風采加上音樂歌唱的實力，讓她贏得第一Disco女王(Queen of Disco)的美稱。
不久這個光環很快被Donna Summer給搶走。
1978年 春天Gloria Gaynor在歐洲登台時不小心跌落舞台，使得Gloria Gaynor 脊髓受損並臥病在床達9個月之久，加上復健期間母親又去世，這許多的打擊幾乎讓她崩潰。
出院後，她寫下這首 I Will Survive 證明自己戰勝了怯懦，就如同歌詞所寫到的I’ve Got All My Life To Live ,I Will Survive一樣。
這首I Will Survive的推出，便將Gloria Gaynor 推上事業的巔峰。
I Will Survive 在1979年蟬連3周冠軍白金曲，成為當時70年代Disco必備歌曲，法國世界盃足球隊開賽歌選用此曲；最重要的是，此曲也被滾石評為100首最偉大的作品之一。
